Let’s see who is knocking on our door:

Surprise! It’s Green Owl!

What about door #2?

Why, look at that, it’s our little friend, Pink Owl!
I have been in the middle of an inchies swap at Craftster but I needed some inspiration to finish up. I picked up “Collage Unleashed” by Traci Bautista. It’s a great book, and Traci’s website and her blog are visually inspiring as well.
The background for the following was inspired by the background techniques in Traci’s book. I made these inchies with Bazzill Chipboard 1″ squares, Tattoo King stickers, BIC markers, an old brown paper envelope, Jo Ann and Colorbox inks, watercolors, and a variety of wood mounted stamps.

I am in Atlanta for a business trip this week, and managed to squeeze in a trip to World of Coca Cola. I have no allegiance to any one cola company, but there is something about Vanilla Coke that makes me an all-around nicer human being. Imagine my giddyness
when I discovered the “tasting” area at World of CC had fountain Vanilla Coke! I drank a ridiculous amount. In my sugar induced craziness, I adopted a baby Coca Cola from the nursery (i.e. the world’s smallest bottling plant which is housed inside World of Coca Cola).

The Venetian Ceiling - Las Vegas
This is a shot of the ceiling in the Venetian Hotel and Casino in (fabulous) Las Vegas. This is in the entry between the main casino floor and the doors to Las Vegas Boulevard. I’ve really been fixated on lights and ceillings of late. It’s amazing what you see if you just look up!

Roll out the barrel of fun at Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas
My friend took me to Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas this afternoon. It was like walking straight into Beerfest, complete with great German food, live music, dancing on the bench-style seating, paddlings by the waitresses when receiving a shot, sing-a-longs, and sloshing of monster beer steins in time to the music. The musician (didn’t catch his name) plays the Ohio State fight song on one of his horns. The thought alone nearly made me delirious with happiness. Since I had my trusty camera with me, I snapped a shot of him getting ready to balance his alpenhorn to play one note hands free. I am happy to report success. My only regret – we didn’t stay for the polka band. Highly recommend this place for when you feel you have to roll out the barrel of fun!!!
This is from a recent trip. I had to change planes in Albequerque, and this was taken from the plane prior to descent and landing. I have to say, people act a little funny when you whip out a camera on a plane. I hadn’t had the opportunity to take a plane picture before, but will plan on doing so any time I have a window seat. This is where keeping a camera on me at all times paid off…

I have been trying origami lately (see Christmas card post) and was poking around on Craftster when I found a post about origami lucky wishing stars. These are super easy to make thanks to Josey at FoldSomething.com whose video tutorial makes it a snap, as you can see here This is also an excellent way to use up scraps, magazines, and catalogs. Check out the entire site for outstanding origami resources.
Happy 2009. May it be filled with happiness, peace, prosperity, and love. 2008 was rough for manyof us, and those closest to me know it wasn’t my year. I have to believe this year will be better and will not shut myself off to opportunites and prospects that are good to me and good for me.
Don’t forget, check out the Version flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/version_challenge/
At this time you must be logged into Flickr to see the group. I amworking on this.
I made a little list a few months ago of things I would like to do for the coming year. I have two friends who are of the “think it, speak it, it will happen” schools of thought, and both asked me to make a list during two unrelated conversations. I don’t believe in resolutions, but I made the list and threw it in my bag and forgot about it. I found it again on New Year’s Eve. Coincidence or fate? What are your wishes for 2009?
My goofy list… Read more
Since I think everyone has received theirs, here is a snap of the Christmas cards I made and sent out this year. Let’s just say the concept was better in theory than in actual practice. I used varying papers from the DCWV Christmas and Winter stacks, cardstock and pre-scored cards from Joann’s, fonts from 1001fonts.com, a Quickutz Silhouette digital cutter, my trusty Xyron and Mrs. Grossman’s tweezers. I also decorated the envelopes with graphic marker drawings, but I was too stupid to take pictures of them BEFORE addressing them. They actually turned out kind of cool. Maybe next time!
Behold, 2008 Christmas cards Las Vegas style:
Next, I am conquering the world of art journals and more mini books, with focus on matchbook albums.
My birthday is coming up but I am really in no mood for celebration, despite the valiant efforts of those who think otherwise and have been trying to force me to celebrate ALL MONTH LONG. Yeah, living in Las Vegas makes that easier to do than most other places with few exceptions. Trust me when I tell you that is no feat that mortals should try to take on, but I love and appreciate them for it anyway. Here’s a list that has culminated from their efforts in no particular order:
